Nyanda Excavations embarks on fleet renewal with DAF

Queensland-based excavating and demolition contractor, Nyanda Excavations, has taken delivery of four new DAF trucks.

The latest order made by the independently owned and operated company consists of three DAF CF450s and one CF530, which have replaced the fleet’s previous Japanese trucks.

Nyanda Excavations Operations Manager, Damien Caldaia, told Prime Mover the new DAFs perform well above the fleet’s past units.

“They’re fantastic. I couldn’t speak highly enough of them,” he said.

“The DAFs far exceed driver comfort and reliability for us.

“We started out with a hook bin truck and then we decided to replace the remaining Japanese trucks in the fleet as they were inching closer to their replacement dates.”

The new DAFs have joined Nyanda Excavations’ southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales operations.

The CF530 and CF450 sleeper cabs are now towing the fleet’s excavation machines on tri-axle trailers, while the second CF450 day cab is set up as a water truck and the other CF450 twin-steer day cab is attached to a hook bin.

“We deliver all our machines on our tri-axle float trailers so they’re often being used for that as well as for our tipper work,” Caldaia said.

“They travel anywhere from northern NSW through to Gladstone in Queensland, so they get to tour around a little bit.”

With one more water truck to be replaced in the fleet, Caldaia said he will look to DAF when purchasing the next prime mover.

“We’ll definitely be replacing that, and it will be with another DAF,” he said.

“These new ones have been amazing, and the service and support from Brown and Hurley and their salesman, Mark Holden, has been great.”
