2023 PACCAR Australia DAF Technician Of The Year

From a shortlist of five DAF Technicians across Australia,

Greg Pearce of Brown & Hurley Kenworth DAF Coffs Harbour

was named 2023 PACCAR Australia’s DAF Technician of the Year.

Brad May – Chief Engineer PACCAR Australia and Steven Tomaro – Aftersales Manager PACCAR Australia, presented the 2023 DAF Technician of the Year award to Greg Pearce, congratulating him on his win and performance on the day.

The search for the 2023 DAF Technician of the Year began in October 2022. All Service Technicians at DAF Dealerships Australia-wide were invited to participate in the competition, which aimed to recognise and reward the best of the best. The event consisted of five practical assessments measuring technical skills, product knowledge, engine expertise and professionalism.

The finalists were:

1^st Place: Greg Pearce – Brown & Hurley Kenworth DAF Coffs Harbour

2^nd Place: Paul McKenna – Kenworth DAF Melbourne

3^rd Place: Brody Vitler – CJD Kenworth DAF Albany

4^th Place: Aiden DeGroot – CJD Kenworth DAF Perth

5^th Place: Jack Rutherford – CJD Kenworth DAF Darwin

Following Greg closely was Paul McKenna of Kenworth DAF Melbourne in second place and Brody Vitler of CJD Kenworth DAF Albany in third place.

The finals were held over a full day on Friday, 24^th March 2023, at Kenworth DAF Melbourne. There were five practical tests that were a combination of electrical, mechanical and system testing. The finalists received over $30,000 worth of prizes, including a voucher for a selection of tools vital to the job, and this year as per last, has an additional incentive with the 1^st placed DAF TOTY winner to join Truck Assist and Matt Stone Racing as a Pit Crew member at this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000. Additionally, 2^nd and 3^rd placed DAF TOTY winners will be treated to a weekend Pit Crew experience with Truck Assist and Matt Stone Racing at an upcoming Supercars event.
